ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) — Dr. Sarah Wilson of Blue Ridge Dental Group shared some tips on teaching good dental health to kids.
She said it’s important to remember to start them early on a good brushing routine, and remember, dental health can sometimes be a key to your overall health.
It also helps to model good dental behavior yourself, so your kids can more easily pick it up from you.
Also, she said, teach them to visit the dentist on a regular basis for cleanings, stress consistency in their brushing habits, and keep a good diet to keep your teeth healthy.
Some oral health risks include cavities, thumb sucking, facial injuries (from sports)
If your kids are afraid of going to the dentist, Wilson said it’s best to start early to eliminate their fears.
Wilson said it’s best to take your kids to the dentist by age 1,
