MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – Summertime means cookouts and potlucks, but it doesn’t have to mean your diet goes out the window.
Savannah McGrath, registered dietitian with UPHS- Marquette, says staples of a heart healthy diet are low-fat meats like chicken and turkey, vegetables, and fruits. She says you don’t have to give up the grill to eat heart-healthy foods– just swap out the beef with ground chicken or turkey, or try grilling vegetables and fruits. McGrath also says getting whole grains in your diet is essential, and they can be easily added into a salad.
